“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up."

About Counselling

Benefits of Virtual Counselling

Meeting through video chat offers numerous advantages, which could explain its sustained popularity among clients. Here are some positive aspects associated with online sessions:

  1. Ideal for stay-at-home parents.
  2. Perfect for navigating shift work.
  3. Eliminates the need for any mobility considerations.
  4. Can relieve social anxiety.
  5. Escaping the unpredictable Alberta weather is a major perk. Imagine sidestepping the need to heat up your vehicle, navigate treacherous winter roads, or endure rain and hail on your journey.
  6. Timesaving is another benefit, as you're able to skip the commute to your appointment, particularly if you live out of town.
  7. For many individuals, the comfort of discussing personal matters online leads to a greater sense of security, fostering more candid conversations compared to in-person meetings.
  8. Post-session, especially following emotionally charged or demanding discussions, there's no requirement to venture into your car and drive. Instead, you can casually walk to the kitchen, pour a glass of water, engage in immediate relaxation techniques, or jot down key points to remember from our sessions.

If the process of virtual counselling is too much to manage or cope with, a phone session can be arranged.

Counselling and Therapy Topics

Mental health therapy is a relationship that helps to create the safety to take risks, and the support to become  empowered to change. Risks may include evoking strong emotions or difficult memories, changing  beliefs or behaviors, and relating to others in different ways. Most people who take these risks  usually find that therapy is helpful.   Benefits include gaining personal insights, learning new and  positive ways to cope or to solve problems, developing new skills, changing unwanted behaviors, and  reduction of distress.

We can provide professional counselling and mental health services for any or all of the following topics:

FAQs

How many sessions will it take?

This is like asking the mechanic how long it will take to fix the vehicle before he even knows what's wrong.  For simple issues, 1-6 sessions might be sufficient, and for more complex issues, 15-30 sessions might be more appropriate.

Do you direct bill Insurance Providers/ EAPs?

We can direct bill very few Insurance Providers, but most will cover our services.  Check with your Insurance Provider for coverage.  Most clients pay for counselling upfront, and then submit receipts for reimbursement without any issues.

How much does a session cost?

This is different per clinician, but our fees can range anywhere between $90 to $200 for a one-hour appointment. Payment can be made by debit, credit card, or e-transfer.
